Charlane Cluett
B.A, MSW, RSW
Registered Social Worker
Charlane has over 30 years of experience in the field of Social Work, working as a Crisis Worker, Case Manager and Counsellor, during that time she also moved into senior management and supervised programs in Muskoka and Parry Sound. After growing up in Virginia and experiencing childhood trauma, Charlane was fortunate to have several mentors in her life to help her heal, develop insight to her own strength and build confidence. She became passionate about giving back by helping others see their potential and grow a sense of hope in their lives. She graduated from University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and completed her Master of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurie University in 1989. Charlane worked as a crisis worker, counsellor, director of clinical services/operations and alternate executive director at the Canadian Mental Health Association, Muskoka-Parry Sound for over 30 years before completing her Advanced Health Leadership Program; Addictions Studies Certificate Program; Health Care Management Certificate and Certificate in Mental Health Law. She then worked as a private practitioner in the community as a designated Capacity Assessor.
Charlane has supported a wide range of individuals, including those who struggle with depression, anxiety, difficult life circumstances, mental illnesses and other challenges. She has a firm belief that there is always hope for a better day and that we can understand the impact of the past but the decisions we make today are most important to bring change into one’s life. Her holistic approach looks at the full bio-psycho-social picture and partners with her clients to support them.
Currently, Charlane is on the Muskoka Victim Services Board of Directors and the national board of directors for Therapeutic Paws of Canada. She has lived in Bracebridge for 35 years and has two grown boys. When she is not working, you’ll find Charlane often visiting the local hospital with her Belgian Shepherd, Duke, to bring joy and smiles to patients and staff alike. She also enjoys gardening, quilting, sewing, cooking, using her chainsaw to cut up fire wood, collector cars, riding her motorcycle, and sitting in the sun appreciating whatever and whoever is around.
