What is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is a form of healthcare that combines modern scientific knowledge with traditional and natural forms of medicine, such as nutrition, movement, herbs, and supplements if needed. It takes into account your health history, personal preferences, and lifestyle. This holistic approach aids in understanding your health better and creating solutions tailored to your wellness goals.

Naturopathic care:

  1. Takes the time to get to know you.
  2. Offers in-depth lab testing.
  3. Utilizes natural therapies to address your concerns.

Naturopathic medicine can help bridge gaps in our medical system while being allies and partners in the healthcare field.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

  • Initial appointments are an hour long and this appointment is where we dive into your main health concerns, gather a full health history, and go over any information that may be relevant to creating your personalized treatment plan
  • After the initial appointment, you will get a treatment plan tailored to your health goals, including any recommended lab investigations. Treatment plans will be provided to you within 24-72 hours after your initial consultation
  • Follow-up appointments are 30 minutes and involve reviewing lab results (if previously recommended), and discussing the progress and effectiveness of the previous treatment plan. We will then continue on the next steps in your health journey with follow-up appointments as needed.

Naturopathic Doctor (ND) Orillia FAQs

Reach out if you can’t find what you’re looking for.

Your initial appointment will be 60 minutes long. This allows the ND to gather your health history, discuss your goals, perform a thorough assessment and develop a personalized treatment plan based on their findings.

Follow-up appointments are 30 minutes in length.

The number of sessions will vary depending on several factors, such as, the condition you are seeking treatment for, your response to treatment, and your adherence to your plan. Most people will see a ND for 3-6 visits

The naturopathic doctor will send your treatment plan within 24-72 hours after your appointment. This time is used for additional research, creating lab requisitions, and thoroughly reviewing appointment notes to provide a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to your needs.

All treatment plans are unique to each patient. Some plans focus more on diet and lifestyle changes, while others may need supplements to achieve the desired results. Supplements act as an aid to a treatment plan and are never the sole focus. The foundations of health need to be in place for true changes to occur.

Once you’ve booked your appointment, you will need to complete a detailed intake form to give the ND information about your health history, your lifestyle, and more. Additionally, if you have had blood work completed in the last 12-24 months, we request that you also send the results to be added to your patient file so the ND can review them before your appointment.

Extended health benefit plans vary across policies and providers. Please contact your insurance provider to confirm your coverage.

The cost can vary significantly depending on what tests are run. On average, you can expect to spend $200-400 for in-depth, comprehensive blood work panels.
