Comprehensive Counselling and Psychotherapy Services

Miller Health is pleased to offer IN CLINIC and VIRTUAL counselling and psychotherapy services for individuals, couples, children and teens. Therapy is a form of treatment aimed at relieving emotional distress and impacts of mental health. Some people come to therapy after a significant life event that they are struggling to cope with, while others come because they recognize that they could be feeling better and engaging with their lives more fully.

At Miller Health, we believe that you are the expert in your own experience! If you are between the ages of 5 and 105, we would love to talk about how we can encourage and empower you to make positive changes in your life.  Our therapists draw from a variety of evidence based techniques and modalities to make a treatment plan to suit your individual needs, and will monitor your progress with you to make sure that therapy is making a positive difference in your life.

What to expect?

Therapeutic counselling at Miller Health involves one-on-one sessions that are confidential between the client and the therapist. The goal of the session is to explore and understand the clients’ needs and questions. Deciding whether psychotherapy or counselling is a good fit can be a difficult choice. We offer a free, 15 minute phone consultation so you can ask any questions that you have about whether our services are right for you. Please call 705-327-5400.

It can be a hard choice to seek counselling for your child, though at Miller Health we believe that it is never too early to start building a community of care for your child.  Through child counselling, we can provide them with a safe space, a neutral person to talk about their life stressors, and a way to build a tool kit of skills to use as they navigate the challenges of growing up.

Child counselling could assist with:

  • Learning tools to manage anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD
  • Emotional regulation
  • Emotional literacy

  • Working through a transition, such as a death, divorce or a move

If you are noticing behavioural changes, struggling to connect with your child or are unsure of how to parent them in the home, please reach out to us! No one is meant to do this alone.

Couples counselling

Feeling disconnected from your partner? We can help. We are a neutral, safe, LGBTQ2S+ allied space.  Couples counselling can help you to find ways to communicate, connect, and get the desire back for the partner you have chosen.

Pre and Post-Partum Mental Health

Bringing a child into the world can be both joyous and difficult all at once, whether it is your first pregnancy or your tenth. Pregnancy comes with many hormonal changes and can also bring out feelings of anxiety and fear. If you need someone to talk to, our social workers are here to help. Counselling can give you tools to deal with the emotions you may be experiencing as you navigate through those tough 9 months and beyond.

After giving birth, another multitude of changes come at you hard and fast and it can be difficult to adjust. If you find you aren’t feeling like yourself and are disconnected from your baby, it may be beneficial to seek therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions About Physiotherapy

Reach out if you can’t find what you’re looking for.

A social worker is a professional who works with individuals to find solutions to their problems. They work in all areas of society, including hospitals, schools, government agencies, policy making, and doing psychotherapy.

Therapy, sometimes also called counselling, involves meeting with a trained mental health professional to talk through problematic feelings, beliefs or issues in one’s life.  It is an evidence based (proven) way to deal with problems you may be having without the use of medications.

Therapy can be for everyone! In the busy world we live in, therapy can be an opportunity to have an authentic human connection and explore the experiences that make you, you!

It is normal to be nervous during your first therapy session. Your therapist will greet you warmly and try to get an understanding of the issue that has brought you to booking an appointment.  The first session will be spent getting to know each other. You can also ask your therapist any questions you may have.

Appointments with our Social Workers (RSW, MSW) are typically 60 minutes long.

Most insurance providers have plans that cover counselling and psychotherapy, however each plan is different. It is important that you verify with your insurance provider to double check if your plan does!
